August 18 (Renewables Now) - Spanish renewable power retailer and project developer Capital Energy announced on Wednesday it will promote to its wind turbine suppliers the towers produced by compatriot GRI Towers Sevilla as part of a partnership.

Under a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the parties, Capital Energy will make the case for GRI’s equipment for wind projects in Andalusia or other communities that reach ready-to-build status by the end of 2024.

GRI Towers Sevilla has a capacity to make 200 wind turbine towers annually. The business is part of GRI Renewable Industries which has 16 sites for wind energy component manufacturing in eight countries.

In addition to wind turbine towers, the two companies will jointly explore other areas of collaboration, such as the optimisation of energy resources through projects in self-consumption, storage, and green hydrogen, among others.

This agreement with GRI Towers Sevilla is part of Capital Energy’s commitment to Andalusia, a region in which it is developing 36 wind and solar projects, totalling more than 1,600 MW and involving an investment of around EUR 1.5 billion (USD 1.5bn).
