Canadian Enerkem signs offtake deal for methanol plant with Methanex
Sep 15, 2011 - Canadian waste-to-fuel company Enerkem Inc said Wednesday that all methanol produced at its plant in the province of Alberta will be sold to methanol supplier Methanex Corp (TSE:MX) under a recently struck offtake deal.
Enerkem has developed a technology for the production of biofuels and renewable chemicals, methanol included. It is currently building a production facility in Edmonton to make and sell methanol. Eventually, the company will start making cellulosic ethanol from methanol at the plant. Its annual production capacity is planned to reach 36 million litres (10 million gallons).
