Butamax, Highwater Ethanol to retrofit Minnesota ethanol plant to biobutanol
Oct 3, 2013 - US Butamax Advanced Biofuels LLC, the next-generation biofuel joint venture of DuPont (NYSE:DD) and BP (LON:BP), and Highwater Ethanol LLC, which licensed the technology from the venture, have started upgrading an ethanol plant in Minnesota to make biobutanol.
Butamax will install a new corn oil separation technology at Highwater's ethanol plant in Lamberton, Minnesota for the conversion process. The facility will begin the first phase of commercial production, in which corn oil will be made, this winter.
In addition, Butamax has agreed with clean energy contractor Fagen Inc to carry out the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) works for the project.
