Bullfrog Power to help finance 10-turbine wind project in Canada
Aug 30, 2013 - Canadian wind and hydropower producer Bullfrog Power yesterday said will partner with a local community in Saskatoon, Canada by offering funding for the construction of a 10-turbine wind park.
Under the initiative, Bullfrog Power will be the founding development sponsor for the early development stage of Saskatoon Community Wind Energy's project through its Bullfrog Builds Renewable Accelerator programme. The scheme offers financing for the construction and development phases of new projects.
The exact location of the proposed wind park is still not determined, but will be near Saskatoon due to its vast wind potential. Once operational, it is estimated to produce power for 16,000 Saskatoon residents. The facility is expected to be an alternative to thermal-generated power and significantly lower carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in the area.
Saskatoon Community Wind will organise a public consultation on September 12 to give more details on its project.
