April 11 (Renewables Now) - US-based wind industry supplier Broadwind Energy Inc (NASDAQ:BWEN) has enjoyed in January-March 2018 its highest quarterly order intake since the first quarter of 2017.

The company has booked consolidated orders of USD 26 million (EUR 21m) during the first quarter of 2018, which includes USD 10 million in new tower orders and USD 15 million in orders for the Gearing segment. This is the highest quarterly order intake for the particular division since the second quarter of 2014, Broadwind said.

Stephanie Kushner, president and CEO of the company, commented that it continues to diversify its client base in both Gearing and Heavy Fabrications.

“Notably, we are seeing a recovery in tower orders consistent with our expectation of a strong tower market for the mid-term,” she said.
