Nov 5, 2013 - UK wind farm developer Broadview Energy Ltd said Monday it had appealed the Huntingdonshire District Council’s rejection of its wind farm proposal of between 6 MW and 9 MW in England.
The Bicton wind farm project was turned down in September on the grounds that it would have a bad impact on the region and on important historical sites.
Broadview Energy proposed to erect three wind turbines on a site near Kimbolton, Tilbrook and Stow Longa after a government planning inspector refused to allow the company to build a four-turbine project at the same site in March 2012. In addition to reducing the number of turbines, the firm also proposed to relocate them further north. “Following the removal of one of the turbines and the relocation of the remaining three, we are confident that the revised proposal is consistent with local planning guidance”, project manager Tom Cosgrove noted.
As part of the appeal, a public enquiry will be organised next year in order to present more information to a planning inspector. Should the scheme receive approval, construction works could be initiated in 2015, the developer said. Broadview Energy said earlier that if built, the wind park was to generate enough to power up to 5,260 local homes.
