Brazil's Centre-South ethanol producers sold 560.53 million litres (148 million gallons) of hydrous ethanol in the first two weeks of May, a 12.76% increase from the volume sold in the second half of April.
Anhydrous ethanol sales stood at around 362.65 million litres. In all, the total ethanol sales on the domestic market for the first half of the month amounted to 923.18 million litres, local sugarcane industry association Unica announced on Friday. Around 42.17 million litres of the biofuel were intended for export.
Some 1.48 billion litres of ethanol were produced in the first two weeks of the month, including 642.46 million litres of anhydrous and 840.54 million litres of hydrous ethanol.
As of Mid-May, 249 production units were in operation, compared to 258 in the same period of the previous year.
