December 17 (Renewables Now) - Dutch dredging and offshore contractor Royal Boskalis Westminster NV (AMS:BOKA) on Tuesday said it has won a contract to handle the scour protection for the 640-MW Yunlin offshore wind park in Taiwan.

Boskalis will be responsible for the scour protection of the 71 monopile foundations at the wind farm off the Taiwanese west coast. Beginning early next year, Boskalis will install 325,000 tonnes of rock on the seabed using a fallpipe vessel. The project is due to be completed in late 2020.

The contract was awarded by YunNeng Wind Power Co Ltd, the company responsible for the development and operation of the project and majority-owned by German wind farm developer Wpd AG. The Yunlin offshore wind park is scheduled for completion in 2021.

Boskalis also announced a contract to install a gas pipeline in the seabed off the coast of Denmark. Together the two contracts are worth about EUR 85 million (USD 94m), it said.
