Boskalis gets EC nod to buy Volker's offshore wind-related ops

The European Commission (EC) last week approved the acquisition of the maritime and offshore wind energy related activities of VolkerWessels by Royal Boskalis Westminster NV (AMS:BOKA).

Netherlands-based Boskalis can now proceed with the acquisition of Volker Wessels Offshore, which includes multi-purpose vessels operator Stemat Holding BV, offshore foundations builder Volker Stevin International Holding BV (VSI) and the 50% interest the buyer does not already own in offshore cable installer VBMS Holding BV.

The commission said it had determined that the purchase would raise no competition concerns, as it would not significantly change the market structure.

Together with VSI, Boskalis bought the 350-MW Wikinger and 402-MW Veja Mate offshore wind projects in late 2014 and mid-2015.
