March 19 (Renewables Now) - Canadian renewables developer Boralex Inc (TSE:BLX) has commissioned the 20-MW Basse Thierache Nord wind farm in France’s Aisne department, it announced on Monday.

The wind park consists of six V112 Vestas turbines, each with a capacity of 3.3 MW. Together, the machines can produce more than 53,000 MWh of electricity per year and thus meet the demand of nearly 18,000 homes.

The plant has a 15-year contract for difference with local utility EDF SA (EPA:EDF) that was signed in two phases -- Tranche 1 (BTN1) on February 1, 2019 and Tranche 2 (BTN2) on March 1, 2019.

Boralex expects this wind farm to add EUR 3.5 million (USD 4m) to its adjusted earnings, before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) a year. The company now has 941 MW of installed capacity in France and a total of 1,962 MW worldwide.
