The US' Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) will be providing information about its wind leasing efforts off Rhode Island and Massachusetts at a meeting later this month.
The agency last week invited interested parties to attend a meeting of its Rhode Island and Massachusetts joint intergovernmental renewable energy task force that will take place on May 16 in Falmouth, Massachusetts.
The event will include updates on the existing wind energy leases from BOEM offshore Rhode Island and Massachusetts, discussion of the agency's initiatives relating to the future of offshore renewable energy leasing in the Atlantic, and updates on existing state activities related to offshore wind.
BOEM's auction in 2013 for the Rhode Island and Massachusetts wind energy area marked the US' first competitive lease sale for renewable generation in federal waters. The winner of the auction, which involved two leases, was Deepwater Wind New England LLC.
