Blue Sphere to build waste-to-energy plants in North Carolina, Rhode Island

Oct 24, 2012 - Israel-based clean tech firm Blue Sphere Corp (OTCBB:BLSP) has signed definitive agreements to carry out a 5.2-MW waste-to-energy project in North Carolina and a 3.2-MW waste-to-energy project in Rhode Island.

Project revenues are expected to total USD 150 million (EUR 115.7m) over the next 15 years, Blue Sphere said in a statement today.

Blue Sphere has formed a joint venture (JV) with German waste-to-energy firm Biogas Nord to carry out the projects, which have already secured power purchase agreements (PPA) with utilities.

The partners will also develop 50 MW of waste-to-energy projects in the US in the next few years, as Blue Sphere has an option to work on 10 more projects, it added.
