Blue Gem Wind Ltd, a joint venture between TotalEnergies (EPA:TTE) and Simply Blue Energy, said Thursday it will continue working with UK-based Offshore Wind Consultants Ltd (OWC), awarding it the role of owner’s engineer for the Erebus project.
Erebus is a 96-MW floating wind demonstration project off the coast of Wales in the Celtic Sea. Blue Gem Wind last year received from the Crown Estate the seabed rights to develop the project about 45 km (28 miles) off the Pembrokeshire coastline.
The developer has now commenced front-end engineering design (FEED) with OWC as owner’s engineer.
Blue Gem Wind said extending its relationship with OWC can ensure development stays on track for construction start in 2025.
OWC has been working on various aspects of the project such as the full environmental impact assessment, engineering development and management of onshore and offshore surveys since March 2020.
“We are delighted to continue working with Blue Gem Wind as owner’s engineer on the Erebus Project as it moves towards consent,” said OWC managing director Katherine Phillips.
“In delivering our scope I am also pleased to be working with other UK and South West based partners including Marine Space, ITPEnergised and Black & Veatch,” Phillips also noted.
