Denmark-based Bladt Industries A/S will combine its resources and experience with that of Burns & McDonnell in order to establish a supply chain for the offshore wind industry in the US.
Specifically, Bladt, which is a foundations and substations provider, will team up with the US-based engineering, construction, fabrication and architecture firm to source, fabricate, produce and assemble steel, concrete and electrical components for individual offshore wind projects. The alliance will create local jobs along the Eastern Seaboard, the announcement says.
Union construction contractor and steel fabricator AZCO, part of the Burns & McDonnell family of companies, will contribute on-site production and assembly services along with steel fabrication capabilities.
The two parties are currently working with state officials, developers, trade organisations, fabricators and contractors to build the supply chain, they said.
"With Burns & McDonnell having the ability to deliver projects in the U.S., combined with Bladt's long track record and position as a central player in the green energy transition, our alliance can offer a unique solution to offshore wind developers looking to combine industry experience and local sourcing in the U.S. offshore wind marketplace," said Anders Søe-Jensen, CEO of Bladt Industries.
