Farr Wind Farm in Scotland. Author: Steve Abraham.
A fund managed by BlackRock Real Assets has acquired the 31-MW Tormywheel wind park in West Lothian, Scotland, from local renewables developer Muirhall Energy.
The particular wind farm has been operating since March 2017. It consists of 15 of Senvion’s MM92 2.05-MW turbines installed at a site to the southwest of Breich. The wind park is supported by 20-year green certificates and has a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with an investment-grade energy supplier in France.
With this purchase, BlackRock brings the total value of its equity assets under management to USD 4.9 billion (EUR 4.16bn), said Rory O’Connor, Managing Director and Head of Renewable Power for Europe at BlackRock. He noted that the company has invested in more than 150 wind and solar projects globally.
More specifically, the Renewable Power Group of BlackRock has investments in 3.5 GW of wind and solar projects located in the US, Canada, Japan, Australia, Ireland, Sweden, Norway, France and the UK.
