Banks gets MP support for up to 14-MW UK wind project
Sep 5, 2014 - Banks Renewables has received the support of the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bishop Auckland to build an up to 14-MW wind park in the Durham County Council area, northeastern England.
The renewables arm of UK land developer Banks Group said in a press release yesterday that Helen Goodman, the MP of the parliamentary constituency of Bishop Auckland, had backed the revised Windy Bank project because she believes it could help address some pressing local issues.
The updated scheme, worth over GBP-16-million (USD 26m/EUR 20m), will comprise four turbines instead of five. Nevertheless, the installed capacity of the project is rising because of an increase in the tip height of the remaining four machines by 10 metres (32.8 feet) to 125 metres.
Banks Renewables has also committed to provide a community benefits fund worth up to GBP 1.75 million for the project’s entire 25-year lifespan.
