Oct 20, 2011 - Spanish commercial bank Banco Sabadell (MCE:SAB) has closed the purchase of three wind farms in Spain, still under construction, local daily Expansion said yesterday.
More precisely, the financial entity acquired the 30.6 MW Loma del Capon wind facility in Granada from domestic renewable energy firm Urbaenergia and Andalusia-based peer Uniwindet. Banco Sabadell will participate in the funding of the wind farm through a project finance deal.
The bank also acquired 50% in the 44 MW Eolica Mirasierra, situated in Palencia, as well as 100% in the 20 MW wind facility Sierra Sesnandez in Zamora.
With the purchase, Banco Sabadell will add a total 65 MW to its present 120 MW wind power.
Banco Sabadell carried out the transactions via its subsidiary Sinia Renovables.
