Chemicals co LyondellBasell seals 1st US renewable PPAs for 216 MW
Jun 29, 2022 15:32 CESTMay 17 (Renewables Now) - US aluminium packaging maker Ball Corporation (NYSE:BALL) said that it has signed a virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) to procure 151 MW of wind energy from a new project in west Texas.
The purchase will go through a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources LLC, which will own and operate the wind farm. Ball expects its portion of the project to generate some 600 GWh of power per year, which would be enough to address the electricity load of nearly half of the company's North American factories.

Construction of the wind farm is underway, with power supply seen to commence in 2023, Ball added.
Schneider Electric Energy advised Ball on the VPPA, while Sustainability Services assisted the company in project selection and negotiations.
Ball’s previous wind energy agreements in the US, Sweden and Spain enabled the company to source 44% of its global power demand from renewables in 2021. The company aims to be fully powered by renewables around the world by 2030.
NextEra Energy Resources is part of US group NextEra Energy Inc (NYSE:NEE).
