March 30 (Renewables Now) - Swedish energy storage company Azelio AB (FRA:4AZ) on Monday announced a contract to deliver two of its energy storage units to compatriot Industrisupport i Amal AB, an industrial real estate company.

Two of Azelio's TES.POD units will be used for storage of excess energy from a 446-kW rooftop solar facility at the client's premises. The storage units will help boost by the share of renewable energy supply by 24% and cut carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 168 tonnes annually, Azelio said.

In addition to helping Industrisupport i Amal AB utilise the power produced by the solar array, the storage units will also provide the company with heat, making it less dependent on the local heating network.

The solar system which will be combined with the units is already in place, provided by local installer Svea Solar. Azelio will be responsible for managing the units' operation during the first three years.

The contract is the company's first commercial order in Sweden and shows the commercial viability of Azelio's storage solution in northern Europe, according to CEO Jonas Eklind.
