Austrian Qpunkt develops wind power system for domestic use
(SeeNews) – Sep 4, 2012 – Austrian vehicles engineering and thermo-systems testing firm Qpunkt GmbH has developed a wind power system for domestic use, which it plans to launch in serial production this October.
The system has 15 KW capacity and can be mounted on the roof of residential buildings. The company estimates the potential market for the new system at up to 1,000 units per year. The systems will be manufactured in cooperation with Austrian builder company Fibag.
The smaller version is currently being tested and a larger version with capacity of 150 KW is in development. The latter could replace conventional wind generators, according to Qpunkt.
The sales of Qpunkt, working in its core automotive industry business with customers like Audi, BMW, VW, Porsche, Mercedes, Bentley or Jaguar, amounted to EUR 9.2 million (USD 11.5m) in the past fiscal year 2011/2012. The company projects sales of EUR 14.5 million for its current fiscal year 2012/13.
