Australian Port Bajool, Transfield Services team up on 220 MW wind farm

(ADPnews) - Nov 4, 2010 - Australian property developer Port Bajool said on Friday it will team up with infrastructure services firm Transfield Services (ASX:TSE) to install a 220 MW wind farm in northern Queensland.

The project is estimated to cost AUD 560 million (USD 558.4m/EUR 398.8m), also involving the development of a AUD-12-million energy innovation centre near the wind farm, Bajool said.

The farm will include 80 turbines that will generate energy to supply the Tablelands Region and cover 60% of Cairns residents' electricity needs, according to Bajool.

The two companies intend to submit a joint application with the Tablelands Regional Council by the end of this year and expect to start construction in late 2011.

The project is seen to create 100 workplaces during construction.
