Australian co Pacific Hydro launches retail business

Sep 17, 2012 - Pacific Hydro is now offering electricity to retail customers after the launch of a retail arm, the Australian renewable energy group said on Monday.

Through its retail business, the company will be able to sell electricity directly to business customers in addition to GreenPower credits provided under the government accreditation programme for renewable energy purchases.

The business' initial target would be medium and large business retail customers in Victoria and South Australia, the company's general manager for Australia, Lane Crockett said

The first product offered by Pacific Hydro is CreanEnergy, bundling electricity with 10%-100% accredited GreenPower, Crockett said, adding that there would also be alternative packages.

The launch of Pacific Hydro's retail business is part of the company's vertical integration. The firm had previously sold electricity under power purchase agreements mainly with big electricity retailers.
