July 16 (Renewables Now) - US fluidised bed gasification systems developer Aries Clean Energy LLC has obtained all needed approvals to build what it says will be the world’s first biosolids-only gasification facility in New Jersey.

Franklin, Tennessee-based Aries is getting ready to construct the plant in a repurposed building within the Linden Roselle Sewerage Authority (LRSA) complex, located 20 miles from Manhattan in New York City.

The facility will utilise Aries’ patented fluidised bed gasification system and will be able to process 400 tonnes of biosolids a day into renewable energy and biochar for use as a substitute for fly ash in concrete. The generated renewable energy will be recovered and used within the system.

According to information on Aries’ website, the project is expected to enter the construction phase this quarter and be completed in the final three months of 2020.
