October 19 (Renewables Now) - Norwegian energy consultancy Aqualis ASA (OSL:AQUA) will provide supervision services in the US for the geotechnical campaign at the Ocean Wind offshore project of Denmark's Dong Energy A/S (CPH:DENERG).

Aqualis said today it has been hired by the Danish energy group, which recently said it is changing its name to Orsted, for the work, without disclosing the contract value.

The Ocean Wind project is located off the coast of New Jersey. "Reconnaissance level site survey has been carried out during summer of 2017, and we will now support the geotechnical investigation on site," explained Ian Bonnon, managing director of Offshore Wind Consultants Ltd (OWC), which is part of Aqualis. The project will be managed out of the Houston office of Aqualis Offshore.

The contract includes an option for the provision of similar geotechnical services at the Bay State Wind offshore wind farm off Massachusetts that Dong is developing together with Eversource Energy (NYSE:ES).
