APEM hired for bird, mammal surveys of East Anglia ONE North
UK environmental consultancy APEM on Monday said it has been hired to carry out aerial bird and marine mammal surveys of ScottishPower Renewables' East Anglia ONE North offshore wind area in the UK.
APEM is also continuing baseline surveys of the East Anglia TWO area, after surveys carried out last winter, as ScottishPower Renewables has extended its contract. Surveys of East Anglia ONE North began this month.
ScottishPower Renewables, part of Iberdrola SA (BME:IBE), will use the data for its Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the two areas that would have a capacity of up to 800 MW each.
APEM is using its recently developed proprietary camera system, called Shearwater II, which it says offers reduced costs for developers by speeding up the time it takes to carry out a survey.
The consultancy has worked on wind farm areas in the East Anglia zone since 2009.
