UK renewables developer Anesco Ltd said on Wednesday it has secured contracts to build and maintain 100 MW of battery storage systems in South West England and Scotland.
The deals were placed by Foresight Group, on behalf of funds owned by JLEN Environmental Assets Group Ltd (LON:JLEN) and Foresight Solar Fund Ltd (LON:FSFL), and were won by Anesco after a competitive tender. Their value remained under wraps.
Anesco will be in charge of all engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) works in relation to two energy storage facilities -- a 50-MW one in Melksham, Wiltshire, and another one of just under 50 MW in West Gourdie, in Scotland’s Dundee city. The two systems are planned to become operational by the autumn of 2022. Once up and running, Anesco will oversee their operations and maintenance (O&M) for four years.
JLEN bought the development rights to the Scottish storage project in March. The Sandridge battery scheme is co-owned by JLEN and Foresight Solar.
Anesco already maintains over 200 MW of solar parks on behalf of Foresight Group, including the 50-MW Sandridge photovoltaic (PV) farm, it noted.
