(ADPnews) - Oct 11, 2010 - American Superconductor Corp (NASDAQ:AMSC) said last week it had rebranded its second generation (2G) high temperature superconductor (HTS) wire
to Amperium wire.
The brand name reflects the product’s ability to conduct more than 100 times the electrical current (amperage) of copper wire of the same dimensions, the company said.
The high power density of Amperium wire dramatically reduces the cost of large-scale electrical equipment such as wind generators, the manufacturer claims.
