Jun 26, 2014 - French group Alstom SA (EPA:ALO) said today it will supply the turbines for the 90-MW Lotnisko wind farm in northern Poland under a new contract worth EUR 80 million (USD 109m).
PGE Energia Odnawialna SA, a unit of Polish utility PGE (WAR:PGE), has ordered 30 of Alstom’s ECO110 units of 3 MW each. As part of the deal, Alstom will supply, install and commission the machines. In addition, it will operate and maintain the turbines for a period of two years.
The Lotnisko wind park is expected to be commissioned at the end of 2015. PGE is developing this project as part of its objective to reach at least 234 MW of wind capacity by 2016.
Alstom recently approved an offer from US conglomerate General Electric (NYSE:GE) to buy the French group's thermal, renewables and grid operations for an equity value of EUR 12.35 billion. The energy business of Alstom is also targeted by German electrical engineering major Siemens AG (ETR:SIE) and Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd (TYO:7011), but the French group rejected their joint bid. The proposal of the pair did not involve Alstom’s wind turbine business.
