(ADPnews) - Oct 27, 2010 - France's Alstom (EPA:ALO) and Portuguese green energy company EDP Renewables (ELI:EDPR) have recently inaugurated the 18 MW Le Mee wind farm in La Region Centre, France.
The wind power facility uses six units of Alstom's latest 3 MW ECO 100 wind turbines. It is already the third one to be commissioned in the region in less than a year. Two other ECO 100 wind farms -- Le Vieux Moulin and La Vallee du Moulin, have already been brought on stream by Alstom in France, and a fourth, dubbed Pieces de Vigne, is under construction.
Pursuant to the agreement, Alstom delivered, installed and commissioned the generators and will operate and maintain them for the next two years.
At the end of 2010, Alstom will have installed and commissioned 27 units of ECO 100 wind generators for EDP Renewables in the region Centre. The turbines have a total capacity of over 80 MW.
France plans to generate up to 23% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2020.
