Switzerland-based energy trader Alpiq said that it has entered into a new agreement to provide route-to-market services for renewables held by Germany's RWE AG (ETR:RWE) in Spain.
The new agreement extends the current contract between the parties to encompass RWE’s entire renewables portfolio in Spain, which is made up of around 500 MW of mostly wind power, Alpiq said.
Early in 2021, the two agreed that Alpiq was to serve as the direct market agent for 459 MW of RWE’s wind farms and hydropower plants in Spain.
“RWE benefits from a competitive advantage accessing Balancing Services through Alpiq, while Alpiq positions itself as the Energy Boutique that provides one of the best services for renewables portfolios in Spain,” the energy trader said of the new arrangement.
