US utility Alliant Energy Corp (NYSE:LNT) is issuing a request for proposals (RfP) for 200 MW of wind power capacity within the service territory of its Wisconsin unit.
Wisconsin Power and Light Co is seeking proposals for existing, re-powered and new wind farms with a planned operational date before September 2020. The facilities can be either situated on a single site or have multiple locations. The requirement is that their nameplate capacity is at least 25 MW.
Qualifying structures are asset sales, develop-transfers or build-transfers and power purchase agreements (PPAs) with a minimum term of 20 years. New wind projects and those on a develop-transfer basis are expected to qualify for US production tax credits (PTCs).
The utility will select one or more proposals in the last quarter of 2017. Bidding will be conducted through the Zycus online platform. Registration is open until June 26, while registered bidders will be able to file their applications by July 21.
According to its website, Alliant Energy has almost 1,200 MW of renewable energy capacity, mostly from wind farms in Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
