December 18 (Renewables Now) - The clean energy subsidiary of Minnesota-based Allete Inc (NYSE:ALE) said today it is refurbishing its 50-MW Condon Wind power facility in Oregon as part of a fleet-wide optimisation strategy.

Allete Clean Energy is investing in equipment and system upgrades that are needed to drive high availability and clean energy production performance, it said.

The project should be finalised next year. It is expected to extend the operating life of the wind park and position it for recontracting as the existing power sales deal with Bonneville Power Administration expires in late 2022.

The company also noted it is refurbishing 385 turbines at the 104-MW Lake Benton wind farm in Minnesota and the Storm Lake sites totalling 184 MW in Iowa.
