July 19 (Renewables Now) - Aker Solutions ASA announced on Monday that a consortium it participates in has won a major contract to provide the high-voltage, direct current (HVDC) transmission system for a large offshore wind project.

The company did not reveal the name of the project, saying that the customer and its partners will announce it during the third quarter of the year. It noted that its Renewables and Field Development segment will book some NOK 3 billion (USD 337m/EUR 286m) as order intake related to this contract in July-September 2021.

The engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) job calls for Aker Solutions to deliver an offshore HVDC converter platform, consisting of a steel jacket substructure and a topside platform deck housing the electrical equipment.

The company is starting work right away and expects the installation to take place in the second half of 2024. Final deliveries are scheduled for the second half of 2025.
