AGL Energy Ltd (ASX:AGK), which develops the Coopers Gap wind project in Australia with a proposed capacity of 400 MW, expects to submit an updated and final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the scheme by the end of the year.
The Aussie power producer is currently reviewing the 24 submissions it got in the public exhibition period that closed on November 7. “Some of the areas addressed noise and potential economic benefits,” said project manager Evan Carless.
Once the final EIS is submitted, the Office of the Coordinator General (OCG) will prepare a report to enable a final determination early next year.
“While we still have some time to go before a final decision is made on progressing the project to construction, finalising the EIS is another positive step forward for the project,” Carless said.
The Coopers Gap wind farm is planned for Southern Queensland. Local residents are invited to attend the community consultative committee meeting on November 24.
Earlier this month, AGL completed the sale of 155 MW of solar assets to the Powering Australian Renewables Fund (PARF) that was launched in early 2016. The Coopers Gap wind farm is expected to be among the next assets to be offered to the fund.
