AFC Energy launches fuel cell factory in England's Surrey

Sep 14, 2012 - UK fuel cell maker AFC Energy Plc (LON:AFC) on Friday officially opened a manufacturing facility in Surrey, southern England, in which it has invested GBP 180,000 (USD 291,000/EUR 224,000).

The plant at Dunsfold Park will have an annual capacity of as many as 20,000 fuel cell electrodes. It will allow AFC to bolster fuel cell production with full cartridge assembly. The company noted that the facility served as an intermediate step between small-scale and fully automated high volume in-line manufacturing.

The Surrey site also includes a facility to dismantle used cartridges and to reuse components back into production. Components that are not reused go back to AFC’s suppliers or other recycling partners for reclaiming and reuse.
