Aecom gets EPC job on renewable natural gas project in New York

Oct 9, 2014 - US engineering design firm Aecom Technology Corp (NYSE:ACM) said yesterday it had received an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) order for a renewable natural gas project in New York City.

The contract was awarded by the US unit of UK-based electricity and gas utility National Grid Plc (LON:NG) and the New York City Department of Environmental Protection. Its value was not given.

Under the terms of the deal, Aecom will work on the Newtown Creek scheme, which will convert biogas by-product from a wastewater treatment plant at the site into renewable natural gas for residential and commercial use. The renewable gas will be injected directly into National Grid’s existing network.

Aecom said it will begin construction of the purification system in 2014 and expects to complete it by the autumn of 2016.
