Acciona scraps wind farm project plans in Minnesota - report
(ADPnews) - Oct 7, 2010 - Acciona Energy, part of Spanish Acciona (MCE:ANA) has dropped plans to develop a wind farm near Magnolia Township in the US state of Minnesota, Janesville Gazette reported earlier this week, citing company official.
'It was not an adequate wind resource for us to commit our full development for the project area", Chip Readling, lead developer for projects said. He added that according to data from a meteorological tower on the site the project "did not align well" with Acciona business goals.
Acciona planned to install 67 wind turbines in Minnesota's Magnolia Township. It still owns the project rights, the daily wrote.
Readling said the company would continue to watch its site for a wind farm in Union Township in northwestern US state of Pennsylvania, adding that it had no timeline for the project.
The company will analyze wind speeds data recorded from a meteorological tower in the township and if it decides to proceed, it will set up a taller tower.
Acciona acquired the rights for the projects in Magnolia and Union townships in 2007.
