The Barwon Renewable Energy Partnership (B-REP), a tie-up of three organisations in Victoria, has committed to procuring 68 GWh of power annually from Acciona Energia’s 132-MW Mount Gellibrand wind farm in the Australian state.
B-REP is formed by Barwon Water, Barwon Health and GeelongPort in the city of Geelong. Its 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the unit of Spain’s Acciona SA (BME:ANA) was announced by the Victoria government on Thursday.

According to the arrangement, Barwon Water will receive 45 GWh of power per year and 15 GWh annually will go to Barwon Health. The remaining portion of the contracted electricity will be supplied to GeelongPort. All three organisations will use the power to offset the energy used at their facilities, in line with their decarbonisation goals.
Located near the town of Birregurra, in Gulidjan Country, the Mount Gellibrand wind park has been generating power since 2018, with Nordex 44 turbines. Its annual output is equal to the power consumption of around 90,000 local homes. About 100 GWh of the generated electricity is being sold to Australian fuel refiner Viva Energy under a PPA signed in 2019.
