Oct 21, 2013 - Spanish renewable energy firm Acciona SA (MCE:ANA) on Monday said it had celebrated the start-up of its 33-MW Krobia I wind farm in Poland.
The wind park was installed by Acciona’s Polish unit Acciona Energia in the Gostyn district, western Poland. It was inaugurated last week.
Powered by 11 Acciona AW3000 turbines, each with a capacity of 3 MW, the installation is capable of generating about 82 GWh of power each year or enough to supply more than 40,000 local homes. The facility will also help offset about 79,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions annually, the developer calculates.
Together with the Krobia wind park, Acciona Energia now has 71 MW of operational wind parks in Poland.
The country targets to install 7,000 MW of wind parks by 2020 as part of its efforts to reduce reliance on fossil fuels, which currently account for more than 96% of its power production.
