January 31 (Renewables Now) – Swiss power and automation group ABB (VTX:ABBN) announced Thursday a new framework agreement signed with SUSI Partners, a firm specialising in infrastructure investments, to promote microgrids and energy storage projects.
ABB will provide its proprietary microgrid technology and battery energy storage systems, while SUSi will finance the projects via its Energy Storage Fund with a capital of EUR 100 million (USD 114.9m) dedicated to clean energy infrastructure.
ABB has more than 40 microgrid installations worldwide across various applications, serving remote communities, islands, utilities and industrial campuses. Its partnership with SUSI will serve to accelerate the adoption of microgrid and energy storage solutions, ABB said.
“This partnership with ABB [...] broadens SUSI’s investment scope and we expect it to contribute in attracting numerous investment opportunities for the SUSI Energy Storage Fund globally,” said Marco van Daele, chief investment officer for SUSI Partners.
