Aug 6, 2012 - German renewable energy project developer WKN AG said today it had recently brought online the 4.5-MW Greiz-Gommla solar facility in the eastern part of the German state of Thuringia.
The solar farm, built by the company in three months, consists of some 23,000 monocrystalline solar modules, generating enough power for more than 1,000 households, WKN said. The installation is located on a former waste disposal site.
WKN arranged bank financing for the project from Deutsche Kreditbank AG. Following its commissioning, the facility was sold to renewable energy funds specialist Chorus Group. Chorus managing director Thomas Laumont said the project was a good addition to the firm's existing solar fund portfolio.
WKN will operate and maintain the solar farm for Chorus.
