Wind Minds to participate in 2.5-GW wind project off Korea

Dutch consultancy Wind Minds expects to sign this week a letter of intent (LoI) with Korea Offshore Wind Power (KOWP) over a partnership concerning the development of a 2.5-GW offshore wind complex in Korea.

Wind Minds will sign the pact with the state-owned company on June 15, its co-founder Pondera Consult said in a statement on its website.

The project the two firms will collaborate on will start with a 60-MW test stage and will add a further 400 MW in its demonstration phase by 2022. To be known as the Southwest Offshore Wind Project, it will be located in the Yellow Sea, to the southwest of Seoul.

Wind Minds said that this partnership will not only provide more opportunities for other Dutch research companies, but also for businesses in the supply chain.
