ISTANBUL (Turkey), June 6 (SeeNews) – Danish wind turbine maker Vestas Wind Systems said on Friday it has received three firm orders to supply and install a total of 158.4 megawatts (MW) of wind turbines in Turkey under a framework agreement with local renewable energy company Borusan EnBW Enerji.
Vestas will deliver, install and commission 48 turbines of 3.3 MW each for the Mut, Harmanlik and Koru wind power projects near the Turkish cities of Mersin, Bursa and Canakkale, the company said in a statement. It will also provide a five-year full-scope service for the three wind farms.
The three wind farms will have a total estimated annual production of more than 500,000 MWh per year, enough to save over 230,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions on an annual basis and to cover the residential electricity consumption of more than 830,000 people in Turkey, Vestas said.
Delivery of the three projects is slated for the fourth quarter of 2014 with commissioning expected in the second quarter of 2015.
The firm orders are part of a 207 MW framework agreement between Vestas and Borusan EnBW Enerji, a joint venture of German utility EnBW and Turkish holding company Borusan.
