Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) announced on Thursday it has signed a framework agreement to manufacture its V150-4.2 MW nacelles in the Brazilian state of Ceara.
The new production plant, whose exact location is yet to be determined, will require approximately EUR 23 million (USD 26.16m) in investments. It not only confirms the company's commitment to the Brazilian market but also allows Vestas to continue its 4-MW platform expansion in the country as well as in the Latin American region.
With its new plant, Vestas’ expects to provide to its customers access to financial support from the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES), covering the acquisition of Brazilian-produced machinery and equipment.
Vestas currently has 1.5 GW of installed and under construction wind capacity in the country. In Ceara, it previously produced V110-2.0 MW nacelles.
