Danish company Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) said Thursday it will supply 26.4 MW of its wind turbines to Windpark Kirchberg GmbH & Co KG for a citizen-owned project in the southern parts of Germany.
Under the terms of the contract, the value of which was not disclosed, the manufacturer will deliver, install and commission eight units of its V126-3.3 MW machines with Vestas-patented Large Diameter Steel Towers. The deal also includes a 15-year full-scope Active Output Management (AOM 4000) service agreement and a VestasOnline Business SCADA solution, according to the press release.
Vestas expects to start delivering the equipment in the first quarter of next year, while commissioning of the park is scheduled for the second quarter of 2016. The Kirchberg/Jagst wind farm in Hohenlohe region, northeast Baden Wurttemberg, is estimated to be able to produce enough electricity to power over 10,000 local households, the firm calculates.
“With more than 90% of the capital being provided by people from the region, no privately-owned wind farm in southern Germany has as large a citizen share as this great project,” project managing directors, Ralf Stier and Georg Persigehl, noted.
