(ADPnews) - Oct 15, 2010 - US photovoltaic (PV) systems firm Satcon Technology Corp (NASDAQ:SATC) announced on Wednesday that it will supply its solar power technologies to a 1.2 MW installation at a water treatment facility in the Kent County, Delaware.
The order to deliver six units of PowerGate Plus PV inverters and Solstice systems, which is a complete power-harvesting and array management solution designed for large-scale solar power plants, was placed by Sustainable Energy Generation Group (SEG).
That is the first Satcon commercial side-by-side installation being funded by the government under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
According to plans, the project will comprise 5,850 polycrystalline silicon-based solar modules. When completed, it will produce 1.4 GWh of clean electricity a year.
Earlier this week, Satcon announced that its Solstice solution was selected to be utilised at the 63 MW CIRO One solar power plant in Puerto Rico.
Launched in 2009, Satcon Solstice leverages string level power conversion and energy harvest optimisation that is integrated as a complete system with a centralised inverter. Solstice increases the overall energy yield of solar installations by up to 12% while simultaneously reducing material costs by 20-25% compared with a centralised inverter system, the manufacturer says.
