US Eaton to supply equipment to 8.2-MW community solar project in Colorado

US industrial manufacturer Eaton Corp Plc (NYSE:ETN) said Tuesday it will supply electrical distribution equipment and engineering services for a 8.2-MW community solar project in Colorado.
The community solar project is cromprised of five solar systems throughout the state, including Colorado Springs and Denver. When operational, these solar systems are expected to power more than 1,600 homes for 20 years.
According the power purchase agreements (PPA) established, the energy produced in Colorado Springs will be utilized by municipal Colorado Springs Utilities, while the output in Denver will be purchased by utility Xcel Energy (NYSE:XEL).
In these projects, Eaton is working with local firm SunShare. The latter will provide customer management, subscriptions and billing.
Under the contract, Eaton will provide its solar balance of system (BOS), as well as a range of electrical power management products such as a customized switchboard, developed by its regional Customer Manufacturing Solution Center (CMSC).
