(ADPnews) - Sep 27, 2010 - US machinery parts maker Alpha Grainger Manufacturing has spent USD 2.3 million (EUR 1.7m) to install a 425 kW photovoltaic (PV) system on the roof of its plant in Franklin, Massachusetts.
The array includes 1,575 units of 275 W Suntech panels mounted on 90,000 sq ft (8,361 sq m) area with an expected annual electricity output of 481,525 kWh. It is estimated to reduce the company's energy bill by USD 72,000 a year.
The company has also received USD 561,000 rebate under the Commonwealth Solar Stimulus programme of the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center. Alpha Grainger will also get a 30% federal tax credit and take advantage from Massachusetts solar renewable electricity credit (SREC) market, which pays USD 500 per one MWh of solar power at present.
