US adds almost 5.2 GW of large wind, solar in Jan-Aug 2016

The US has installed nearly 5.2 GW of large-scale wind and solar power facilities in January-August 2016 compared with about 4.9 GW a year back, according to statistics by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

During the month of August, 408 MW of wind power and 313 MW of solar power capacity went into operation. No other sources of power were deployed during that month.
