Israel's Enlight starts commissioning of 329-MW wind farm in Spain
Jun 29, 2022 8:44 CESTDecember 28 (Renewables Now) - The Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) today launched a request for qualifications (RfQ) as it seeks a developer for a 500-MW solar project.
The RfQ documents can be purchased by January 18, while the submission deadline is February 22.
On Wednesday, OPWP CEO Yaqoob Saif Hamood Al Kiyumi told reporters that the list of pre-qualified companies is seen to be ready in the first quarter of 2018. The state-owned utility would then proceed with the tender for the solar independent power project (IPP), the investment in which is estimated at USD 500 million (EUR 421m).
OPWP said the project is to be awarded late in 2018 and it will be developed under the build-own-operate (BOO) model. Oman wants to have the solar power plant in Ibri up and running in early 2021.
The project is in line with Oman’s plan to diversify its energy mix and increase the use of clean energy sources. The Sultanate targets a 10% renewable energy share by 2025.
